  • About | Zianté

About Zianté. Our Story Taste. Learn. Create. Zianté began as a neurodivergent journey through food, learning, and sensory discovery. Hi, I’m Laura — a French-trained Pastry Chef, Qualified Teacher, and curious mind who never stopped asking why (especially when it comes to food and learning). I grew up between cultures and languages, always exploring how people learn, taste, and connect through food. Diagnosed with Autism and ADHD in my 40s, I finally understood why traditional classrooms — and kitchens — never quite fit. So I built one that does. Zianté blends teaching, patisserie, and sensory exploration to create inclusive workshops and handmade treats designed for neurodivergent learners of all ages — from baking sessions to sensory experiences. Here, questions, curiosity, and creativity are celebrated — not corrected. Credentials & Experience of the Founder Bringing Expertise, Creativity & Inclusion Together I combine over 20 years of experience in education and food: Qualified Teacher & Lecturer (DBS checked), with specialist training in Autism, Patisserie & Confectionery, Music, Soap Making and French French-trained Pastry Chef with professional experience in London, Manchester, Montpellier, Oxford and Paris Taught children, young people, and adults in schools, colleges, and professional kitchens Catered high-profile events including the BAFTAs, MTV Awards, Royal celebrations , private weddings and more This blend of teaching expertise, lived neurodivergent experience, and professional culinary practice allows me to design workshops and resources that are inclusive, sensory-friendly, and empowering for learners of all ages. SpicyLikeZ Our Online Voice You can find us on social media as SpicyLikeZ , where we share workshops, treats, and sensory-friendly ideas with a touch of creativity (and spice). Zianté brings together food, learning, and sensory experiences — making them accessible, enjoyable, and a little spicy. I initially did my Undergraduate Degree at Oxford Brookes University in French and Music. Later, I went on to do a GTP Level 7 equivalent Teaching qualification and gained QTS. After teaching for a few years I then completed Level 2 & Level 3 Patisserie and Confectionery Qualifications. Having spent many years in industry as a Pastry Chef, working at Sous Chef level in top London venues and establishments, I returned to teaching Food Technology at Sarum Hall in London and was in charge of the Food Studio as a Food & Nutrition Coordinator. I then moved on to do another teaching qualification and taught Level 1 Catering, Level 2 & 3 Patisserie and Confectionery in Further Education Colleges. I have 7+ years of teaching experience, specialising in teaching languages, music and cooking / patisserie. I have taught children in Early Years right through to students in Further Education. I have experience of working in state schools and private education. I have 15+ years' experience in Hospitality as a Pastry Chef and Front of House including roles as a Cocktail Bartender, Waitress and Pastry Chef in Oxford, Manchester, London & France. I have had great opportunities to work with amazing chefs and worked as a Pastry Chef at some top venues across these places including, but not limited to: Blue Strawberry / Table Talk, BWOM, Clement Worrall, The Savoy, Bubble, Thorntons & Dominique Ansel and directed teams of up to 15 chefs on site for exquisite events in some amazing venues in London & Paris, including events for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Joanna Lumley, Sting, Pippa Middleton's wedding, MTV awards, among many more. I speak French, Albanian & basic Spanish & Italian. My understanding of learning languages means that I have been able to help many EAL students learn English. I classed myself as Neurodivergent for a long time, and at the age of 41, I was finally diagnosed with AuDHD (Autism/ADHD). Having struggled through the education system myself, I am very passionate about changing how education is delivered, and supporting neurodiverse needs. I started and sold my share in a successful start-up Soap & Cosmetics Company and should there be a requirement, I could offer Soap & bath bomb workshops. Personal Life: I am the youngest of 5. I, Laura, the Owner & Director of Zianté, am of Welsh / Italian heritage. The spray paint handwriting represents my rustic handwriting and love of Graffiti art! Click here to find out more about my working history. Zian té There are variations of this word that exist as surnames but to us, the word Zianté means: Zia + Tante + Aunty = Zianté. Pronounced 'Zee-an-tay'. A name my partner helped me to come up with. Why? I am the youngest of 5 siblings. I have 8 niblings and I am an Aunty to my 3 sisters' children. Zia is Aunty in Italian, Tante is Aunty in French, Aunty is Aunty in English! The word Aunty is used3 times in the name Zianté, to represent being an Aunty to 3 sisters' children. Although I am of Welsh / Italian heritage, I speak French and I am a French trained pastry chef, so our food is a fusion of different cuisines hence the mélange ('Mixture' in French) of words to create the name! Family Business &History Where did it all start? I cooked from a young age with my mum in the kitchen. In fact, my mum taught me so well that I was able to cook a meal independently at the age of 10 ! Meanwhile, my dad, who worked abroad most of my life, would always treat the family to amazing meals when we visited him abroad, and he would also bring back amazing food from his travels. This continued to inspire my love of food, language and culture. But I was very lucky, I had other inspirational people in my life also. My Godfather had his own Italian Cafe in Swansea and I used to love visiting him. He suffered with MS and I only ever remember him in a wheelchair, but he didn't let that stop him. He was a great inspiration to always follow your dreams, no matter what life throws at you. I always wanted my own cafe like my Godfather. Zianté predominantly sells delicious treats because good food should be shared. In addition to this, Zianté also offers courses to teach and share knowledge. There is much enjoyment in sharing knowledge with others, and watching others grow, just as others have provided the tools to enable growth in my life. Why is this word so important to our brand? Aunty I am very close with my brother and sisters and actually a few of us are pretty good at cooking in the family. Although my brother is probably the most experimental one and he and I would always hide when it came to washing up! If not cooking, there would be much music & sport in our house. In fact my sisters and brother have all worked in roles that involve music. But my nieces and nephews make me want to be the best version of myself that I can be. I have had plenty of dark days in my life and have suffered with mental health issues my entire life. My nieces and nephews (among other reasons) help me to keep going. Some days, they were the only reason I got out of bed, to spend time with them, and usually we would do something creative like cooking or making soap. I guess also, it's the Italian in me; Enjoying cooking for everyone and experimenting with different foods. Children are always honest about their opinions, that is certain, and they often make me laugh and smile. I remember my Zia's food. Delicious! Recipes passed on to my mum, who despite looking Italian, is actually Welsh! My Nonna and Zia taught my mum how to cook, but my dad (Nonna's son) is also a fantastic cook and gardener. My dad LOVES food, like me, and he always encourages me to use natural and good quality ingredients and like my mum, who's approval for best sticky toffee pudding I am still trying to achieve, they push me to do my best. Nonna & Zia Domenica came from a remote village farm in North Italy called Colombello, so making good food from scratch is in our blood. Disclaimer: All products made by Zianté Ltd., are made without nuts or peanuts, although some items that we buy in may be manufactured in an environment where nuts and peanuts are processed, so we cannot guarantee that there are no traces. However, none of the recipes used will have the addition of nuts or peanuts. This is due to my partner being allergic. We always aim to use the best quality ingredients.
